Varada Kumari is the 2nd child of Mr and Mrs Venkata Rao and Krishnaveni. Her father died when she was a child of 12 years, leaving her mother as the only the person to taken care of her and her brother. After her mother's death there was no one to take care of her. Not even her brother could support her.

Her brother's wife treated her badly, like a home servent. One day Varada's brother and his wife threw her from their home. In this bad situation none of her relatives would support her.

At that time she came to live at the Charla Susila Old Age Home. Ashram management provided food, shelter, clothes and they treated her with compassion and love. She has been staying in the ashram for 8 years.

Varada enjoys helping in the kitchen at the ashram.
